WAWA/WeAreWideAwake is my Public Service to America as a muckracker who has journeyed seven times to Israel Palestine since June 2005.
WAWA is dedicated to confronting media and governments that shield the whole
truth.
We who Are Wide
Awake are compelled by the "fierce urgency of Now" [Rev MLK, Jr.] to raise
awareness and promote the human dialogue about many of the crucial issues of our
day: the state of our Union and in protection of democracy, what life is like
under military occupation in Palestine, the Christian EXODUS from the Holy Land,
and spirituality-from a Theologically Liberated Christian Anarchist
POV.
"Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all...and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave...a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils." DO SOMETHING!

We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights; that, among these, are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; and, whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it. -July 4, 1776. The Declaration of Independence
The most radical and forward thinking of Americas
Founding Fathers was Tom Paine. He published his pamphlet COMMON SENSE on
Valentines Day 1776 and said:
"Soon after I had published 'Common Sense' in America, I saw the
exceeding probability that a revolution in the system of government would be
followed by a revolution in the system of religion... The world is my country,
all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion."
America was founded by Dissidents, rebels and revolutionaries NOT neo-cons or
conservatives-and that also goes for Christianity.
Christians are suppose to understand that GOD IS LOVE, and in First Corinthians
13 we learn that:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps
no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with THE TRUTH!
It always protects, it always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love
never fails.
As Dorothy Day said "Love is not the starving of whole populations. Love
is not the bombardment of open cities. Love is not killing. Our manifesto is
the Sermon on the Mount, which means that we will try to be peacemakers."
About 2,000 years ago, when Jesus was about 33, he hiked up a hill and sat down
under an olive tree and began to teach the people;
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven."
In other words: it is those who know their own spiritual poverty, their own limitations
and sins honestly and trust God loves them in spite of themselves who already
live in the Kingdom of God.
And there is only one sin-SELFISHNESS-putting ones self-first.
How comforted we will all be, when we see, we haven't got a clue, as to the
depth and breadth of pure love and mercy of The Divine Mystery of The Universe.
God's name in ancient Aramaic is Abba, which means Daddy, as much as Mommy and
He/She: The Lord has said, "My ways are not your ways. My thoughts are not
yours." -Isaiah 55:8
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."
The essence of meek is to be patient with ignorance, slow to anger and never
hold a grudge. In other words: how comforted you will be when you also know
humility; when you know yourself, the good and the bad, for both cut through
every human heart.
"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, they will be
filled."
In other words: how comforted you will be when your greatest desire is to do
what "God requires, and he has already told you what that is; BE JUST, BE
MERCIFUL and walk humbly with your Lord."-Micah 6:8
"Blessed are the merciful, they will be shown mercy."
In other words: how comforted you will all be when you choose to return only
kindness to your 'enemy.'
"For with the measure you measure against another, it will be measured
back to you" Christ warns his disciples as he explains the law of karma
from Luke 6:27-38.
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they see God."
In other words: how comforted you will be when you WAKE UP and see God is
already within you, within every man, every woman and every child. The Supreme
Being is everywhere, the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end. Beyond The
Universe -and yet so small; within the heart of every atom.
"Blessed are The Peacemakers: THEY are the daughters and sons of
God."
And what a wonderful world it would be when we all seek peace by pursuing
justice; for there can be none without the other.
"Blessed are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires,
theirs is The Kingdom of Heaven."
And one fine day the lion will lie down with The Lamb and man will make war no
more and that is the Kingdom of God!
We Christians no longer need to talk about Jesus, but we are called to be
Jesus, to let his LIGHT shine through us, so that people can FEEL him through
us.
In a slight paraphrase of Thomas Merton:
The mission of the Christian at
this time is to do the one task God has imposed upon us in this world today.
That mission is to work for the total abolition of war and nuclear weapons.
Unless war is abolished; the world will remain constantly in a state of
madness.
The church [meaning all Christians] must lead The Way back to the Prince of
Peace whose death on the cross was in vain unless we wake up and see that his
message was NONVIOLENCE is the only answer to violence.
Peace is to be preached and nonviolence explained and practiced.
That is the mission to 21st Christians
Everything else is secondary, for the survival of the human race itself depends
upon it.

POWER to the PEACEFUL and only in solidarity do "we have it in our power to begin the world again."-Tom
Paine
Happy Valentines Day 2010 with hope to resurrect common sense!
